Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, toxic gas that is produced when any combustible is burned: natural gas, petroleum, charcoal, and even tobacco. When burning in limited air, more carbon monoxide is produced; without proper venting to get outside the house, the problem is even more serious. Some organizations, such as the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, have warned the public that carbon monoxide is a deadly poison in the home.
